Hygge is a Danish word used to describe an essential piece of its culture. Hygge highlights the importance of celebrating the simple things in life. This concept puts an emphasis on the small items found in the day to day. All these warm and cozy things—candles, blankets, maybe even a little chocolate—are said to encourage happiness and well-being.

The Spring Awakening event at Sincerely, Vavé was very reminiscent of this lifestyle.

For starters, there could not have been a more appropriate location. Sincerely, Vavé is a flower shop run by two friends, who share a love for floral arrangements and commemoration. This botanical site was the perfect place to begin a new season of readings and performances.

The night was an intimate affair. Hygge-game, on point. There were reclining chairs, lovely candles, snug blankets, and lush plants. Everyone felt comfortable and the ambiance was just right for the occasion.

The show kicked off at 9pm with a full setlist and a lot of love in the room. Writers shared poems and prose on love, rebirth, nature, and identify. The distinct artists and original content made for awesome entertainment.

To top it all off, there were musical acts to compliment the poetry. In between readings, musicians played their original tunes. These songs were catchy and melodic. There’s no question that live music is the best kind.

Under soft spotlight, art was celebrated and new bonds were made. Spring Awakening was a heartwarming event. The first of many to come.
